Despite how many lives ovarian cancer touches, there is still no early detection test to consistently diagnose it in its earlier stages when treatment outcomes are the best. We can’t wait for progress. We need greater awareness, access to support and increased research. We can’t do it without you!

Paper & I in Marshall, MI will be hosting an online auction fundraiser in September during National Ovarian Cancer Awareness month to benefit MIOCA! World Ovarian Cancer Day: One Woman’s Story Shines a Light on Disparities

May 8th is World Ovarian Cancer Day, dedicated to spreading awareness and advocating for advances in ovarian cancer testing and treatment. Dionne Bowens is the Executive Director of the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MIOCA), as well as 28-year survivor of ovarian cancer. Bowens details her complicated journey from symptom onset to diagnosis, treatment, and becoming a survivor. Her story highlights the dire need for greater investments in ovarian cancer research, as well as a culture shift in the way our society approaches women’s health.

MIOCA Announces 2022 Geri Fournier Ovarian Cancer Research Award

Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance Announces 2021 Research Grant Recipients

The Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MIOCA) announces its 2021 Research Grant Recipients. Since it began awarding grants in 2014, MIOCA has provided $700,000 to researchers in Michigan who are finding new ways to improve the early detection and treatment of ovarian cancer. MIOCA is pleased to announce two Geri Fournier Ovarian Cancer Research Award recipients in 2021. The Award, named for the Founders’ mother who helped establish MIOCA before her death from ovarian cancer in 2011, was created to recognize and provide funding for the critical research happening in the state.

MIOCA Receives Grant to Expand Statewide Ovarian Cancer Programs

The Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MIOCA) received a grant of $17,000 from the Donald R. and Esther Simon Foundation to expand statewide support programs for individuals with ovarian cancer. “We are so thankful for this support from the Donald R. and Esther Simon Foundation to continue to work to expand programming in Michigan,” shares MIOCA President, Suzi Peterson Steward. “MIOCA is an organization that is available to anyone impacted by ovarian cancer throughout the state, and we are committed to increasing access to programs that facilitate connection and support between individuals who have experienced ovarian cancer.”
