Making Meaning and Sharing Your Ovarian Cancer Story Virtual Workshop

Living with cancer and even life after cancer as a patient or caregiver can be very difficult. One incredible way that many people deal with these struggles is to share their cancer story with others as a way to make a positive difference. Making meaning of the incredible physical and emotional challenges of cancer helps us cope and can really help others too!
This workshop will help you find the words to talk about how cancer has affected your life, and it will give you the tools to tell your story for different positive purposes. We'll explore educating others about ovarian cancer, sharing your story to drive fundraising, advocating for policy change, and other ways that your story and personal experience of cancer can help others.

OkTEALber Virtual Celebration & Auction 2020

MIOCA was proud to present our first ever Virtual Celebration & Auction on October 17, 2020. We created this event to spread the message about ovarian cancer.

We gathered virtually with MIOCA family and friends to raise funds for ovarian cancer research and support programs for those battling the disease today. Attendees enjoyed an exciting comedy special with nationally-known comedian and ovarian cancer survivor, Karen Mills. Attendees then participated in a fun silent auction with plenty of teal items! 

Shake Your Teal Feathers on Wheels 2020

Shake Your Teal Feathers on Wheels took place on Sunday, September 27. Participants joined us this year, as we switched gears to socially-distanced, drive-in program and fun TEAL car parade that kicked off at The Meadows in Millennium Park.  Participants decorated their car TEAL for the parade to show support and spread awareness. Participants received a car magnet, cool key chain and more! 

All safely gathered in their cars to support ovarian cancer survivors and raise funds for women and families impacted by this disease.

Mother's Day Time to Teal Virtual Run 2020

Our Mother's Day Time to Teal 5K and 1-mile fun walk/run is an event to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and celebrate the women in our lives.  Hosted by the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MIOCA), this event pivoted to a virtual format in 2020 with individuals participating throughout Michigan and beyond. Hundreds of photos and videos were posted to our Facebook page showcasing the virtual runs/walks.
