The United States is currently experiencing a shortage of chemotherapy drugs including both carboplatin and cisplatin, medications that are used to treat ovarian and other forms of cancer.
The Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance is deeply concerned by this ongoing shortage and the potential that it has to disrupt life-saving care for individuals in Michigan and across the country. We know that many are experiencing serious concerns as a result of this situation.
MIOCA’s top priority is to support survivors and their families throughout the state during this time. We are continuing to communicate with partners, work collaboratively, and advocate for options to address this situation.
If you or someone you know has had disruptions, changes, or any other impact as a result, please consider reaching out. We would like to hear your story so that we can better address the ongoing issues arising. You can give us a call at 734-800-6144 or email us at info@mioca.org.
Your voice and story are powerful in supporting efforts to address the current situation and prevent future shortages. Please consider becoming part of the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance's ongoing advocacy efforts addressing pressing issues for our communities.
We are grateful for all of the medical professionals who are doing all they can to ensure continued access to the best possible care options in the circumstances. You can learn more about the current care recommendations and resources from the Society for Gynecologic Oncology.
