Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance Regional Awareness Ambassador

Status: Independent Contractor, Approximately 15 -20 hours per month

Organization Overview: Established in 2011, the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MIOCA) strives to save women's lives by promoting the early detection of ovarian cancer and improved treatment outcomes. MIOCA raises awareness of ovarian cancer, provides resources and support to survivors and their families, advocates both locally and federally, educates Michigan communities, and funds innovative ovarian cancer research.

Job Responsibilities: MIOCA is a statewide ovarian cancer organization committed to raising awareness and sharing information about ovarian cancer across the state. The Regional Awareness Ambassador will work with the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance on a contract basis on roles including but not limited to:

● Sharing information about MIOCA with local groups and organizations
● Promoting greater awareness of ovarian cancer through distribution of resources, information and creating connections throughout the region
● Using social media and local contacts, share MIOCA’s awareness programs, volunteer opportunities, and events in the region
● Providing regular progress and activity reports to MIOCA
● Communicating any materials or other needs for community resources to MIOCA
● Supporting other MIOCA program initiatives and activities as asked

Qualifications:

● Passionate about ovarian cancer awareness and the mission of MIOCA
● Experience building community relationships
● Strong listening and effective communication skills
● Knowledge of and ability to effectively use social media platforms and electronic communications.
● Familiarity with ovarian and gynecologic cancers
● Knowledge of community resources

A commitment of at least one year is expected.

We are looking to fill 2 ambassador roles: Central Michigan and Western Michigan

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3 – 5 per week
