Suzi Peterson Steward

Suzi Peterson Steward became familiar with MIOCA, and joined the Board in 2012. She lost her mother to ovarian cancer in 2005, after a short one year battle with it. She and her family were blindsided by the diagnosis, and supported ovarian cancer research in California, her home state, and attempted to learn more about the disease from national organizations; but Suzi wanted to learn more and lend her financial support closer to her new home, Michigan, and found MIOCA.

Since then she’s served as a Board Secretary, Board President, and Board Member. Suzi participates and volunteers in most of MIOCA’s sponsored and third-party events. Her background is in non profit management. She’s primarily worked in nonprofit arts organizations for the past 28 years. Suzi finds such strength and resiliency in the ovarian cancer survivors and family/friend caregivers she meets through events and meetings, and is inspired to fight wherever and however necessary to find early detection and treatments and to educate and advocate, always with her mom in her memory.
