Jamie Crooker
Jamie brings to MIOCA 15 years of experience in the field of social work. She graduated with her bachelors and masters degrees in social work from Wayne State University. Some of the populations she has worked with in the Metro-Detroit area are geriatrics in long term care facilities, individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, homeless, at-risk youth and she is working to complete health risk assessments for individuals who may need assistance in the home. In her work, she also aims to help individuals navigate the healthcare system.
Jamie was introduced to MIOCA in the summer of 2019 when her mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Since then she has been passionate in advocating for MIOCA's mission and supporting other families who are impacted by ovarian cancer. Her mom, Norma, lost her battle in June of 2022, however Jamie and her family continue to show support and educate others about ovarian cancer and the positives MIOCA brings to the community. She serves on MIOCA's board of directors to honor the memory of her mom. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her two children and husband, going to movies, concerts and baseball games.
