More than 250 survivors, caregivers and advocates gathered in Washington, DC, for updates on the latest advances in ovarian cancer research, network with others on the same journey and advocate on the Hill. Thanks to a generous grant from the Lori Haber Buckfire Foundation, five Michigan survivors were among that group, learning from researchers from our nation’s leading cancer institutions as they discussed recent efforts towards improving treatment outcomes, quality of life and earlier detection. Lobby Day concluded the conference, with the MI delegation meeting with staff of Senators Stabenow and Levin as well as Reps Miller, Levin and Peters, to talk about the critical need for funding research, awareness and educational efforts. MIOCA is extremely grateful for this opportunity to learn, connect and make TEAL voices heard on the Hill.
